More than 125 years of Innovation Honeywell can trace its roots back to 1885. Today Honeywell have business around the world. The first office outside the U.S. was established in Toronto, Canada. Its first European subsidiary was established in the Netherlands the same year, and, within a few years, offices were opened in London and Stockholm. Honeywell Puerto Rico
Headquartered in Arizona, Honeywell began doing business in Puerto Rico in 2007, and so far it has created more than 950 new jobs in specialized areas, namely, engineering and information systems, helping to stop the so-called "brain drain" in those areas. To that end, the company works closely with the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez, the Polytechnic University, and the Inter American University to find new recruits.
The Puerto Rico Industrial Development Co. (PRIDCO) is pitching the island as an attractive destination for manufacturing aircraft components and those related to defense and the security market in the U.S., which extends into specialized engineering services and the supply chain.
The aerospace industry accounts for more than 3,000 direct jobs and private investment that has surpassed $100 million. Among the aerospace service companies that have a presence in Puerto Rico are Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney/Infotech, Lockheed Martin and Hamilton Sundstrand, among others.
