Training Incentives |

The Government of the Commonwealth
of Puerto Rico, through several agencies, offers more than
a dozen employment and training programs intended to supply
staffing needs for the different economic sectors. These programs
offer a wide variety of benefits in order to provide the human
resources required in different occupations. Other programs
offer wage subsidies or reimbursements of up to 100% and for
a maximum of a three years period as part of new or advanced
training programs.
Some of these programs are the following: |

Provides incentives for training
to intermediate management, supervisory, instructors and technical
workers that require knowledge and special skills. |

Through different eligible
activities or programs it reimburses employers from 50% to
100% of the salary of the participants. These include: |
| |
- Working Job Experiences - Grants 100%
of salary incentive by a period of 6 months and a maximum
of 20 weekly hours.
- Job Creations - Reimburses to the employer
75% of the salary of the participant for a minimum of 6
and a maximum of 18 months.
- On the Job Training (O.J.T.) –
Refunds employers 100% of the salary of the participant
- Limited Vocational Education - Provides
a 100% subsidy for trainings directed to improving the possibility
of employment through basic skills development, in educational
institutions certified by the Right to Employment Administration.
The courses will have a six-month maximum duration and require
the Institution a 45% of placement of the participants that
complete the training. Participants will also receive cash
benefits and other services through this Program.

Designed to satisfy special
need of employers and provides 50% of the training cost of
participants. |

Provides training activities
in the employment and work experience. It is an activity that
is coordinated or provided under a contract with an employer
in the public, private non-profit or private sector. Through
this program, occupational training is provided for the WIA
participant in exchange for the reimbursement of up to 50%
of the wage rate to compensate for the employers extraordinary
cost. |

This Program offers economic
incentives to the companies that employ, through a training
contract, persons with mental or physical disabilities. |
