Developing new technologies that
come out as a result of scientific research is a significant element
to promote a sustained economic growth.
In order to improve competitiveness, Puerto Rico’s industrial
sector requires the continuous incorporation of technological advances,
which are a product of a vigorous research and development area.
The key industry sectors, academia and government should join efforts
to insure the competitiveness of Puerto Rico in the industrial and
high technology areas.
Research and Development Programs Projects Incentives Program
This program is managed by the Office of Science and Technology.
It promotes technological and scientific innovation to commercialize
new ideas. In addition, it fosters the development and optimization
of intellectual capital, human resources and natural resources in
Puerto Rico. It serves as link and support to public, private and
academic sector initiatives aimed at developing new technology.
Agencies, private organizations, universities, organizations or
individuals who show their capacity and potential to conduct research
and who can prepare a proposal, may apply for funds from this program.
Projects must have a direct or indirect impact that benefits economic
development in Puerto Rico.
