This office assists Puerto Rican companies to identify markets for their products. Its Local Market Division identifies and evaluates markets for products manufactured on the island by Puerto Rican industry. It provides technical and general assistance to develop and market products.

The Division of Government Sales counsels on Bill 42 of 1989, also known as Preferential Policy Related to Government Purchases Bill. This law provides for local manufacturers to have preferential treatment over foreign bidders in local auctions in both the municipal and the state government. It orients industrials about procedures to follow to be included in the list of government agency’s bidders. In addition, it provides information about federal and state government bids, as well as hotels and other institutions.

The Procurement and Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) offers technical and marketing support to those businesses interested in selling its products to the federal government. In this way, the PTAC helps to increase local industry participation in the federal government contracts. The PTAC offers general information to the industry about the specifications of products, regulations and how to do business with the federal government.
