The Design
and Technology Council operates under the Puerto Rican Industry
Promotions area. Its purpose is to assist local industrials in
the areas of
design, industrial engineering and quality control.
Its design division is comprised of three areas: Fashion Design,
Industrial Design and Graphic Design.
The Fashion Design Workshop aims to improve the quality and the
design of clothing produced by the Puerto Rican industry. Likewise,
it provides counseling to clothing manufacturers about design,
clothing manufacturing techniques and selection of textiles and
fabrics.
It provides counseling on suppliers, markets and fashion forecasting
trends.
The Graphic Design Workshop assists in developing a corporate image
and to design elements such as logos, labels and containers. It
provides counseling on graphic design and coordination in the various
phases of a project.
The Industrial Design Workshop designs products, prepares product
prototypes, model specifications and illustrations, as well as
product construction blueprints. It designs exhibitions to promote
products.
The Industrial Engineering Division prepares time and motion
studies, production line balances and assists in the selection
and layouts
of machinery
and production line flowcharts. It counsels on subjects
such as industrial safety, production control, inventory systems
and cost analysis.
The Quality Control Division counsels and facilitates the implementation
of quality control systems. Some of the services offered include:
quality control problem diagnosis, quality control system design,
supervision in implementing the system and counseling to comply
with federal and local laws and regulations.
