Starting the process

PRIDCO (Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company) is available to assist clients from the initial contact, through the site selection process, permitting, construction, staffing and commencement of operations. And it doesn’t stop there. PRIDCO personnel also regularly visit the facilities to make sure that everything is going smoothly and that minor nuisances don’t become problems.

How do you begin the process? For manufacturing and export services projects (services provided outside of Puerto Rico) the best and fastest way is to call PRIDCO directly at 1-888-5-PRIDCO. You will be connected to an experienced PRIDCO executive who will ask a few simple questions in order to determine which PRIDCO Special Projects Manager (SPM) is the most qualified to assist on your project. That SPM will then contact you within two (2) business days to begin the process.

The next step will generally be a meeting with the SPM who will describe PRIDCO’s “Value Proposition”, the tax and operational advantages of expanding or relocating to Puerto Rico. When appropriate, you can make a “fact finding” &/or a “site selection” trip to Puerto Rico, accompanied by the SPM.

In order to make the most effective use of your time, you will be asked to provide some basic information on the operation you are considering for Puerto Rico: projected size of the facility, utility needs, potential employment, approximate investment, any special environmental issues, etc. That will allow the SPM to identify locations and available buildings best suited for the project. The information needed is contained in the Location & Environmental Aspects Questionnaire. Simply, click on the link to download in MS Word format. For additional details and instructions, please download the Location and environment aspects questionnaire instructions.

Later, depending on your particular project, the forms for Industrial Tax Exemption Application, Application for Tax Exemption for Property Devoted to Industrial Development and some others may come into play. But remember, your SPM will be there to help with any questions you may have.

For non-manufacturing projects, the first stop is at Fomento Comercial (787-294-0101) where a knowledgeable person will be available to assist you.

  Offices Around the World

In an effort to reach out and work closer with companies before and after they establish in Puerto Rico, PRIDCO has offices around the world. You can talk to a PRIDCO representative who will take through the process, at your convenience, in your hometown or ours.
