  Quality of Life

Life in Puerto Rico offers a number of advantages, including a perfect, year-round warm climate, plus the comforts and quality of life comparable to that of the continental United States.

Housing is abundant in Puerto Rico and property taxes are low. There’s a wide range of modern and traditional private homes, apartments and condominiums priced for all income levels.

Puerto Rico provides a comfortable lifestyle with all the modern comforts of major international locations. In Puerto Rico you will find the same supermarket chains, malls, upscale boutiques, excellent restaurants, and nightclubs as in the U.S. mainland. Cultural activities abound and include world-class events and stars.

For enjoyment and relaxation:

  • tournament quality golf courses and tennis courts
  • deep sea fishing, diving, snorkeling, surfing
  • professional baseball games featuring Major League stars
  • professional boxing
  • horse racing

    Stable and Secure Government

Puerto Rico operates under the tenets of both the U.S. Constitution and its own Commonwealth Constitution, while enjoying fiscal autonomy. The local government consists of Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches and is currently headed by Governor Aníbal Acevedo Vilá, Esq. Puerto Rico also has a non-voting member at the U.S. House of Representatives, known as the Resident Commissioner in Washington, D.C.. Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens and the U.S. dollar is the local currency. The island is divided into 78 municipalities with San Juan as its capital city.

  A Powerful Economy

With more than 2,000 diverse industrial plants producing and shipping everything from pharmaceuticals to computer components and medical devices that make Puerto Rico a manufacturing powerhouse, Puerto Rico's economy is vibrant and growing.

This powerful economy plus a pro-business government committed to continued industrial growth are key components to the Island’s success as a business center.

  Lovely Tropical Location

Puerto Rico’s white sand beaches, cool tropical forests and steady Trade Winds provide year-round comfortable surroundings. The average temperature and annual rainfall are 80¼ F with moderate humidity and 63 inches respectively. Puerto Rico’s coastline has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean and in its mountain range you’ll find the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. parks system.

  History

Puerto Rico was a Spanish colony from the landing of Columbus in 1493 until the end of the Spanish-American War in 1898, when it became a U.S. territory. By virtue of the Federal Relations Act of 1952, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico drafted its own Constitution, which was approved by the people of Puerto Rico. The Constitution of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico sets forth the same basic rights and government structure contained in the U.S. federal charter.

  Society

Of the 3.9 million U.S. citizens living in Puerto Rico, 1.3 million are in the workforce. The population is largely urban and suburban, with nearly two million living in the cities. Principal urban centers include San Juan, Bayamón, Guaynabo, Carolina, Mayagüez, Ponce, Caguas, Humacao and Fajardo.
